Lemon Ginger Tea

The best drink for digestion! Make it in bulk then drink it every morning.

When you’re feeling sluggish, it might be time for a good detox. If you have a bit of a tummy ache, try a cup of this tea to calm and ease the stomach and help your digestive system process your food.

I’ve found this tea to be extremely helpful in aiding digestion. Whenever I have digestive issues, I make this tea in bulk, refrigerate it and drink a half cup to a full cup in the morning before eating anything.

You can also use it as a liver and colon detox.

Extremely simple to make, this tea can be taken with sweetener of your choice. When drinking it hot, I like to use a little bit of honey. If you want to make it sweet then refrigerate and drink it cold, add the Xylitol to the entire pot as directed in the recipe instructions.

I don’t like to put a lot of sugar into my body, even natural sugars, so I’ll leave out the sweetener and put it in my morning smoothies.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Lemons

Ginger Root

Xylitol or sweetener of your choice

Water

HOW TO MAKE LEMON GINGER TEA

1. Fill a 4 quart saucepan with filtered water and place it on the stove. Begin heating it up on high.

2. Cut the lemons in fourths.

3. Squeeze the lemon juice into the saucepan. Add the peels.

4. Cut the ginger into small chunks. Add to the saucepan.

5. Bring to a boil then simmer for 15 minutes. There is no need to cover it. Leaving a lid off puts an amazing aroma to fill your kitchen.

6. I like to have me some hot tea at this point with a little honey instead of Xylitol, so I”ll scoop some out into a mug with a ladle. Try it! Add the Xylitol and stir until it is dissolved, about 1 to 2 minutes.

7. Pour the tea over a strainer and strain out the lemons, seeds, and ginger.

8. With a potato masher, or a fork, squeeze out the remaining lemon juice from the rind in the strainer.

9. After straining, and squeezing, this should give you 4 quarts/2 liters of tea.

11. Separate the lemon peels from the ginger.

12. Remove the seeds. Put the ginger in a container or bag to use in your smoothies!

13. Don’t throw away the lemon peels! Use them to clean out your disposal and create a lemony fresh scent!

14. Let the tea cool down completely. Pour into glass jars or a large pitcher and refrigerate.
