Genetic Testing

The genetic testing kit my OB/GYN ordered had finally come. It was a really simple, saliva, spit in a tube, test. I mailed it back to the lab and the genetic test results came back today.

Good news! I do not have the genetic breast cancer gene. Therefore, my daughter, sisters, and nieces won’t need to be concerned about breast cancer being genetic!

The lab offered to run a bunch of other different panels to check for other genetic mutations such as colon, reproductive, another set of breast cancer genes and brain tumors.

The result of all the genetic tests is negative. This significantly reduces the chance of a mutation in any of my analyzed genes.
